The Dew Tour descended upon Portland, the "skate capital of the world" and the street skateboarding competition that went down on August 13, 2011, featured a line-up of world-class riders of diverse skills and styles. Every rider was so impressive in this completely stacked field of skaters. But this wasn't a feel-good tournament where everyone gets to go home with a trophy. This was knock-down and grind it out, hard-core, skating at the Dew Tour, where just getting an invite to compete is already epic winning, and getting a spot on the podium is a treat to be savored.

Portland Invitational Dew Tour Skate Street

The fresh, concrete course created by Spohn Ranch, had stair sets with rails, flat rails, a nice little bump to bar, bank to bank with a flat rail at the top, enormous hubba ledges, flat ledges, hips, and beautiful grass gaps for riders to show grinds, air, transitions and a full range of technical street riding skills.

Paul Rodriguez was heavily-favored to win and he lived up to expectations, banging out his arsenal of tricks, both regular and switch all over the course for his third Dew Tour win. He skated in his usual skillful but deceptively laid-back style and it was hard to tell if he even broke a sweat until the superfinals when the other riders were breathing down his neck.
